Rebecca Ryan is 16 years old and living near Kilrush in Co. Clare, Ireland. Since the age of four she has experienced symptoms of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), a mental illness that haunted her with obsessive thoughts and repetitive behaviors. She would have to give her mother a toy every day before school and perform other ‘nonsensical’ rituals.
When she was thirteen, she went from being a happy young teenager with a new start in secondary school, to being a girl who could only leave the house by jumping through a window.
The story, written by herself in a sometimes humorous and always clear style, details Rebecca’s experiences with symptoms, school, therapy and finally, management and recovery. It should assure young people going through this disorder that they are not alone.
When she leaves school Rebecca hopes to study animation. Her own sketches appear throughout the book.
