For Eugene, life and living is all about wisdom and wonder - wisdom is learning about the world around him and the things that interest him, and wonder about the many parts that make us the big great world around us all. So it was no surprise when he clustered the first few poems together that he called them WOW - words of wisdom, words of wonder. Later when he decided to put this collection of poetry, anecdotes and stories together, again it was no surprise that he called it WOW. He has written on a variety of subjects, gathered from a wealth of experience during his working life over many years. There are some light-hearted topics like in 'Trust', 'Help Me Santa' and 'My Little Pigs'. His interest in music is reflected in his biographical poems on 'Joe Dolan' and 'Luke Kelly'. There are profound and serious subjects dealt with also, like suicide in 'Why?', and emigration in 'Keep in Touch'.
